NeoKazama Posted March 7, 2022 Author Share Posted March 7, 2022 (edited) Okay, this week we have a beautiful statue that i've worked in collaboration with Larry Kidd. The statue was made by DilutedConcepts (Juan) and to my knowledge there are only 3 statues in the world. I believe the statue is 7'4 which makes it a real, life size. I got commissioned by a client who purchased off the statue off Larry. Larry started the paintjob (Full torso and hands were painted by him. Unfortunately for personal reasons, he wasn't able to finish up the statue. I always admired Larry's work and it was an honor to work on this. VIDEO: I apologize for the horrible quality. I wasn't able to find the completed suit photos, but here are a couple of the WIP. Remind you these are BIG BOY suits. The mask on the grey suit it was made by Skunk (Lee) - He painted that mask and i had to match it's colors to the skins. The other suit was a beat up, pissed off predator. Will be working on another Pred in resin soon as well, after other projects that i have ahead. Originally, when i started to sketch the King Croc it was going to be based on an Elder head, because of the spikes, textures, etc. But talking to my girlfriend, who she doesn't paint but has an excellent eye for details and is also my toughest critic, suggested me to use a Wolf. I am glad it worked out. That has to be one of the most fun paintjobs i've done in a while. Also it was my first Predator paintjob on my new updated studio, in which i can find things easier. I suggest to anyone working on props and you are running out of creative fuel and it's in your means to do it, invest on revamping your work space. It will make you more productive and will reset your mind set for new projects. Here are a couple shots of the making of the Elder. I stopped taking progress photos after i started adding the tattoo. If you are in the zone making something and you can't find that important tool or ingredient it frustrates the hell out of me and pulls my focus from the actual creative process/work. Adam Savage constantly drones on about this exact topic on his YouTube channel. Organization is key. Decorating it to be inspiring is key. It's gotta be fun or it's all for not. How long start to finish does something like the croc or elder tat variant take you? Who is making the latex heads? NeoKazama Posted July 27, 2022 Author Share Posted July 27, 2022 I have a few blank masks that i've collected thru the years and i'm always looking for more. Once i have everything i needed it took me about 4 days from beginning to end on the Croc and about 6 days on the elder (i hate painting dreads) I plan ahead my builds. While im working on a project i'm already sketching and ordering whatever parts/paints/etc that i may need for the build. A few years ago i got burnt out of painting predators, same copy and paste with every build. I had to step back from painting those and try my skills painting other props. Until this day that's what i do. Paint a couple pred masks/suits/statues and then work on another monster. And i'm only painting custom predators now days. My honest opinion is that adding feathers and bright colors doesn't make it custom. It has to be different than everything out there. NeoKazama Posted October 31, 2022 Author Share Posted October 31, 2022 Hello everybody!! Here is my take on Robbie's Samurai Shinto design, that Gene sculpted. The bio (design and sculpt) are just amazing. It has so much character and it was easy to come up with color ideas for this one. Definitely looking forward to work on other bios made by these two amazing guys. Mask is a SM Dreads by Casey McCabe I wanted a bright color on the bio, on which you could see the wear and tear, full of scratches. Added a bit of metallic purple to it on the electronic bits on the side of the helmet, as a small homage to the screen used Gort bio. For the mask, this is just a simple patterns over another pattern. Scars were achieved by adding thin strips of latex, glue them and then rip them off. This will achieve a small indentation and will give uneven edges to the scar as well. Thought about breaking a tooth but i've done it already. So i went with a heavily cracked one instead. Attaching the dreads is not as easy as you think lol Try it. - But it was fun 🙂 Thanks for watching and please follow me on IG.
