A great labor of love.
How many hours was the 3D sculpt and print process again?
Wondering how much time that takes vs traditional clay sculpting.
What is also interesting is the printed version vs the cast version. Something about the surface texture or it's shine looks different. Not good or bad, just different. Probably the different materials of each.
What is the weight differential between the two castings?
I would bet you plan on making a fiberglass Helmet for wearing to get a super lightweight copy?
I got lots of questions.😁👍
haha 30 questions,
3d sculpt i dont know i rarely keep time of things as i bounce between commissions and projects all the time, id happily bet its way quicker than sculpture because symmetry can be turned on in the program so you technically only work one side. plus i know alot of times waste molds are made then a resin copy is made and body shopped to the final form before molding. i did that with my 1st and second rebreathers.
The print took i believe around 18 hrs per half ( it was printed in 2 ) on my elegoo jupiter resin printer.
The 3d print is way way heavier than the cast, the cast weighs in at 883 grams with the eyes not cut out, i didnt cast it super thick and i feel the weight to wear wouldnt be much of a issue, i MAY cast one in fiberglass to see how much it cuts down but i am not sure its worth the hassle. the resin print is packed away but id happily guess it was double the weight.
The surface of them look different as the cast has the above-mentioned powder applied to the mold, so being silver it picks up shadows and light differently to a matte grey finish, if i did cast in grey there would be nothing different to notice other than a slight shade variance.- 2

Been making predator props for a minute. But I had never made a bio before . Made in zbrush, the first cast came out yesterday. I powdered the mold with jacquard silver powder but think I will primer it and may go another route with paint other than mainly silver.
Photos in reverse order the head it is on is my 2010 silicone p1. But it should fit my custom mask when I get one cast.- 2

If I was to be more specific.
What it shares with Andrews head is:
The over all size and presence
The half open half closed mouth
And The overall angry fierce look. I could see this being a great replacement for that head if Andrews ever needed to be retired.
Not many masks have a this kind of size and presence.
Half open mouth I’ll give ya haha.
kit should retire his whole suit and build a new one. So should all the old handers actually.

Really nice sculpt!! P1 rules.
Thanks 🙂
Many moons ago, pretty sure i can do better 🙂 -
not sure i ever explained, but the basic shape was a clay pour of the front of my silicone p1 from 2010, i then went in and changed the outer crown dread lugs to ridges, and there are in fact 2 inner ridge lines which do not show on the photos i guess.
i then changed the forehead slope, nose slope and mandible heights before starting to get down and dirty with details. i literally used no reference off any other preds for this, just tried to stay faithful and be different at the same time to the P1. 🙂- 1

This head is just so nice. The size, shape, details, overall look. It has the same look as @Kithunter's elder.
Can't wait to see what you do with this.
Its nothing like David Peas sculpt, which is essentially smooth, this has a inner layer of ridges along with a lot of detailing and forms Davids does not have.

Man that looks crazy detailed. You need to make another P1 hint hint. Thanks for sharing.
Honestly, i never thought i would, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuut. after this is molded i am straight onto the P2, and then i may revisit the P1, and then another custom lol.

I recall reading somewhere that the bio was Gold to begin then different weathering and aging applied. i did similar ( but not as heavy on my 1st infinity gauntlet , using MTN metallic gold then FW inks over the top.
BUT
there are many many ways to do this, this is just my thoughts as you asked.- 1

Never been a fan of bright colored bios or Preds for that matter.
until this. And that’s because the color is executed well. Not super bright and obviously I love heavy weathering.
congrats now get on with the rest of the suit -
Single blade setup is SICK !!!
