Lwoff0677 Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 OK I'm getting my 1st suit very soon wolf .so Is it possible to put some sort of motors in the shoulder cannons so when you move your head but they move as well ??? Quote
Tuath Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 It has been done in the past. A guy here in Ireland, not sure if he will sign up or not used the internals from a Nintendo wii to rig his cannon up.. Was an awesome piece of kit 1 Quote
Lwoff0677 Posted February 5, 2022 Author Posted February 5, 2022 I still have my nintendo wii somewhere Don't suppose this any videos or pictures of it? Quote
MeanGene Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 I remember hearing that but do not remember seeing it. @Carl had this cannon and backpack fully rigged by some electronical wizard. Fully controllable with head movement I believe. They did it with fancy sensors and Arduino yadda yadda. Carl will correct me. It was badass though. Video footage was impressive. 2 Quote
Carl Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Gene is correct. The first iteration was very difficult. I believe the bugs may have been worked out by now. More to come on this.... 1 Quote
Lowdmekon Posted February 6, 2022 Posted February 6, 2022 I sure i remember seeing vids if this on the old lair !! I may be wrong 1 Quote
MeanGene Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 This looks promising... Wonder if you could slow down the movement with the arduino programming? This has a cool recoil feature... Is this one Carl's cannon????? I searched "Arduino predator cannon" 3 Quote

Has anyone put into a full suit at a con ? 1 Quote
MeanGene Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 I can't recall anyone putting this one a full suit... @Carl has been dragging his feet on this for a dog's age. 😉 Come on Carl! Finish it! 1 Quote
Carl Posted February 9, 2022 Posted February 9, 2022 Yes, the You Tube video above with the blue cannon arm shows my cannon and backpack. Animatronic credit goes to Honus who has yet to re-up with the new Lair. The video shows testing of the unit we used for the multi-Lair member suit we built for the 2013 Monsterpalooza for Jamie Hall. As soon as my film (non predator related) is finished this summer, I will finish the backpack cannon and medkit. My first output was ripped apart by several folks on the old Lair, so I scrapped the project. 1 1 Quote

Timekiller Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 I knew I should've went into electrical engineering. These are amazing. Quote
MeanGene Posted August 31, 2022 Posted August 31, 2022 Ya tell me about it. I work with home electronics. But this is a whole other thing. I get the basic of signal path, relays, contact switches and programming automation. But it's a whole diff platform than Arduino. I believe Stan Winston school has some courses. I'll check later when I am home, I got an unlimited membership. Quote
Ritualhunter Posted September 30, 2022 Posted September 30, 2022 Found this on YouTube not sure if everyone has seen it but didn’t hurt to share Quote
MeanGene Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 That's a whole world of knowledge I am not privy too. But it is still fascinating. Thanks for posting. Quote
Ritualhunter Posted October 2, 2022 Posted October 2, 2022 Of course lol and I’m right there with you 😂 no idea about how to approach it but hey maybe it makes sense to someone who may see it 😊 Quote
Blue Scorpion Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Check this out..... https://www.instructables.com/Gyroscopic-Arduino-Head-Tracking-Unit/ 1 Quote
Blue Scorpion Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Not yet but am working on it. I know nothing about electronics and or animatronics so it's going to be an interesting journey! I am currently printing off the cannon, Should be finished later today. I have the gyro in the helm already wired via cat5 cable (as well as lasers and eyes) I have orderd the arduino board and motors and various bits so watch this space! lol. I am building my suit based on one put together by a guy called Moesizzlac, as this is my first attempt at this sort of thing I think his suit is a good goal to attempt, this is his site. http://www.moesizzlac.com/projects-predator.php A little video of it working ....... http://www.moesizzlac.com/assets/images/Camera Phone pics/Predator/Predator/Assembly/Test-Run.gif Edited February 12, 2023 by Blue Scorpion 1 Quote
