  1. Dry fitting the SLA resin metal parts onto the updated Feral 3d model. Really happy with the results of this one. Still using off the shelf parts for the lights, waiting on some battery holders to come in before trying to play around with the LED noodles.
  2. the green distressing on the Feral Bio is a really nice touch! Definitely makes the tri-laser shroud POP!
  3. Got some really amazing photos from friend, I posted the link to the larger album link in the hunterslair discord.
  4. Prey helmet #2. Hoping to rework some parts of the model in the new year. I'm also waiting on some lengths of something called LED noodles, hopefully i can comeup with a more elevated lighting array for these as well.
  5. I can't speak for all 3d modelers, but if you pay for a model you really shouldn't be editing it any further. Some artists might feel differently, but in my opinion its a lot like recasting.
  6. thanks for the kind words ! The suggestion for a head is definitely a tempting proposal, but i feel this helm is better suited for wall display. besides i have a few casts of a custom mask i still have to get around to finishing before i start a whole new sculpt 😆
  7. Finally finished! Had a blast working through this! It's been unimaginably fun working in the predator universe again.
  8. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08TMGYHX3?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details we used one of these and used uv resin to seal them into the mask for good.
  9. We used an off the shelf set of 20ft 2AAbattery fairy leds, with our limited (see also: none) experience in electronics we felt it safer to take this route. All of the lights are easily controled by a toggle switch, and has a fade/off feature. On the inner side of the mask I sculpted a small trenchway to accommodate the tiny leds, everything is still just dry fit so its a bit like a rats nest of cable. Hoping to have a few hours to get everything attached down for good tomorrow.
  10. Wanted to split off a separate thread to use as a general 3d modeling thread. I am by no means an expert in 3d modeling and I'm always open to hearing new ideas/workflows/constructive criticisms. One of the first objects I ever wanted to sculpt on my own was Ahabs Engineer Rifle from the Fire and Stone (?) comics. Its such a neat design and I feel that in all of the prometheus media its the only prop that blends biomechanics into utility in a way that both makes sense and is pleasing to look at. This model is maybe the 4th or 5th iteration i've worked on over the years and the first that i've felt any confident in sharing. Its still in its blocking phase, trying to get all the right shapes in the right spots. I'm struggling between making it as accurate as possible and really letting loose with ye olde creative license.
  11. Update: Have most of the paint blocked out and dry fitting the LEDS and just WOW this came out so much better than I could have ever anticipated!
  12. the next step is to coat the print in some self leveling resin to smooth out the surface and fill in layer lines, then we're going to mask off the cracks and give it a nice coat of black primer and go from there! Actually heard from Sara today, they were very kind enough to post some lit up pictures like this on their instagram!
  13. it was a long 172 hour print but its finally finished! Now onto the hard-er part, post processing and paints!
  14. no joke, been waiting to see this project come to fruition since 2009! Goodluck on the mold!
  15. lol yeah i really want to print a bunch of this stuff too XD ! My printers are tied up for a bit while longer before I can get to print some of my own.
