I mean, back in '90/'91 you couldn't get metallic spray paint that had that level of depth and shine. Plus, SWS was simultaneously working on T2 - and the Endo-Skeletons were plated... so why not throw in a couple of pieces from Predator 2? It's also interesting that the laser itself is missing from this helmet.

Rob, you were 100% right. Good work.

I asked Jordu Schell who worked on the film if it was gold plated. He stated the following:
"As I recall, everything was plated in a copper material, and then aged to look worn and used. What you see in the photo is the helmet prior to this aging process, no doubt. It looks very gold in the photo, but was much more of a coppery look in person."

Huzzah! That's what I figured they did. But, my only question now, is what did they use to seal the paint work and the plating? As I'm sure you know, spraying a clear over just metallic paint kinda flattens it and kills the sheen.

Shellac ?

That's a good point. They could've used Shellac. You can buy clear shellac or "Amber" Shellac (which would've accented the gold aspects of the helmet). However, Shellac is not water resistant, and scenes involving water probably would've messed with the helmets finish. I dunno.
