City Hunter Paint Tutorial
NeoKazama posted a topic in Paint, Techniques and Weathering,
Here is a quick step-by-step guide on how I painted this helmet. There are many ways to paint bios and this is just an alternative method to achieve the metallic look.

Elder Head (Greyback)
Jparr3085 posted a topic in Masks, Dreds, Body Skins, Hands/Feet,
Greetings all!
I wanted to break down the process of how I created my elder predator bust/mask for anyone who was ever interested in trying to do something similar.
Ultimately, the idea stems from the creation of the original elder and how those talented artists at Stan Winston Studios brought the predator known as Greyback to life. Utilizing a head from the original predator film, they modified the mask by adding foam latex prosthetics to give the creature minor variations that set it apart from the Jungle Hunter as seen in P1.
I decided to do the same. Using one of my own P1 masks that I sculpted (the process of which can be read here...
https://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/2745-p1-jungle-hunter-mask/ ), I used foam clay to make new mandibles and a ton of little horns in various sizes. Once those were firm, I attached them to the mask. I then made a mixture of cabopatch (part prosaide/part fumed silicate) and applied that to the forehead to create a more pronounced, wrinkled texture than was found in my original sculpt.
Once that was dry, it was time to paint and bring the elder to life, liver spots, and all. Utilizing reference photos from Stan Winston Studios was the best route to see the colors and patterns on the original, along with some additional photos I found here on the Lair and elsewhere.
Once I was wrapping up completion of the painting, I began making the quills, dreads, and the numerous styles of beads that would adorn the dreads. In reality, that was one of the most time-consuming parts, I ended up sculpting and molding a lot of dread beads.
Then came the painting of each to look like various metals, bone, wood, and attaching leather, teeth, and all the other fun little things that would make even Jack Sparrow envious.
Fortunately for the long bead strands that dangle among the dreads, I just utilized store bought beads for those and strung various color combinations that resembled what the original sported.
And so that's how my Greyback mask/bust came to be. Hope you enjoyed it, and remember that if you're ever contemplating starting on your own build but holding back because you're unsure how it'll turn out or worry you'll mess up, stop fretting. Don't hesitate any longer. You're in one of the best places you can be for support and knowledge right here at The Hunter's Lair. There's a wealth of resources right at your fingertips and a whole community of fans who treasure this 'ugly mother fuc***' just as much as you, that'll be by your side every step of the way along your own costuming journey! 🤙- 2 replies

Wanted to split off a separate thread to use as a general 3d modeling thread. I am by no means an expert in 3d modeling and I'm always open to hearing new ideas/workflows/constructive criticisms. One of the first objects I ever wanted to sculpt on my own was Ahabs Engineer Rifle from the Fire and Stone (?) comics. Its such a neat design and I feel that in all of the prometheus media its the only prop that blends biomechanics into utility in a way that both makes sense and is pleasing to look at. This model is maybe the 4th or 5th iteration i've worked on over the years and the first that i've felt any confident in sharing. Its still in its blocking phase, try…

Has any one gotten any updates at all for that upcoming One:12 (aka 6 inch scale) Predator figure that Mezco is putting out? Hell, it was announced way earlier than the Superman (Christopher Reeve edition) and Wolverine (90s classic edition) yet the latter got released earlier. Been waiting since the preorders went live back in Q1 of 2020.

I have been working on a film that requires animated 3D models of cars driving on the road. These would be integrated into shots that have real world counterparts to these specific cars. Is there anyone out there who does this kind of thing, or do you know someone who might? I did have a guy who was able to edit Beam NG and create some scenes for me, but was unable to import specific car models (which I have). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Theses are my weapons I use for my huntress. The duel blade I made using spare wristblades. The AvP 2 spear I got as a gift, then adjusting it to my suited design. Along it’s my gauntlet wristblades. I also have the canon but I might remove it, just for better comfort.

Here's an Elder Predator suit I did for a member of the lair years ago Garopred. I used a set of Pete Manders Predator 1 skins and I believe it was a Scott Marshall Elder Predator head. Had to sculpt some belt buckles miscellaneous bones myself but this was the finished product.o

Okay so I had a sound effect t-shirt that I out grew but the cool thing about the sound effects shirts is you can replace the sounds with your own sounds instead so I download what free sounds for the predator at the time where available and had to rename them to what number each button was to get them to work and boom 20 sounds at my disposal. two remotes one is for the plasma caster ( white one ) and the other is for my sound effects .still need to weather down some bones and the caster but other then that pretty happy with how it’s coming along. 68524031794__CBFF50B2-B772-43A3-9123-F676B11517C7.MOV 68524041278__AD52437C-A8FC-4DDF-B11A-B554931DE1C0.MO…

Got myself a digital file off Etsy and so far I’m happy with how it came out . Need to add some details and paint but we are coming along nicely definitely a good way to go if you don’t have a 3D printer and you don’t have the ability to cast your own.

I am thankful to get a great Predator film in PREY. The suit, costume and creature design are awesome. It takes hard work by a team of artists to produce these creatures. I am thankful for their efforts. It is no small task. Recently one of the artists passed away who worked on painting the Feral suit. Rich Mayberry passed away this week.Thank you for your talents and awesome creatures. Your talents shine on. Here is some info on his work. Other than doing special effects makeup for Heroes, Richard has also done special effects makeup for One of Them (2003) and The Usual Suspects (1995). He also worked on the Lord of the Rings trilogy (2001-2003…
