City Hunter Paint Tutorial
NeoKazama posted a topic in Paint, Techniques and Weathering,
Here is a quick step-by-step guide on how I painted this helmet. There are many ways to paint bios and this is just an alternative method to achieve the metallic look.

Elder Head (Greyback)
Jparr3085 posted a topic in Masks, Dreds, Body Skins, Hands/Feet,
Greetings all!
I wanted to break down the process of how I created my elder predator bust/mask for anyone who was ever interested in trying to do something similar.
Ultimately, the idea stems from the creation of the original elder and how those talented artists at Stan Winston Studios brought the predator known as Greyback to life. Utilizing a head from the original predator film, they modified the mask by adding foam latex prosthetics to give the creature minor variations that set it apart from the Jungle Hunter as seen in P1.
I decided to do the same. Using one of my own P1 masks that I sculpted (the process of which can be read here...
https://www.thehunterslair.com/topic/2745-p1-jungle-hunter-mask/ ), I used foam clay to make new mandibles and a ton of little horns in various sizes. Once those were firm, I attached them to the mask. I then made a mixture of cabopatch (part prosaide/part fumed silicate) and applied that to the forehead to create a more pronounced, wrinkled texture than was found in my original sculpt.
Once that was dry, it was time to paint and bring the elder to life, liver spots, and all. Utilizing reference photos from Stan Winston Studios was the best route to see the colors and patterns on the original, along with some additional photos I found here on the Lair and elsewhere.
Once I was wrapping up completion of the painting, I began making the quills, dreads, and the numerous styles of beads that would adorn the dreads. In reality, that was one of the most time-consuming parts, I ended up sculpting and molding a lot of dread beads.
Then came the painting of each to look like various metals, bone, wood, and attaching leather, teeth, and all the other fun little things that would make even Jack Sparrow envious.
Fortunately for the long bead strands that dangle among the dreads, I just utilized store bought beads for those and strung various color combinations that resembled what the original sported.
And so that's how my Greyback mask/bust came to be. Hope you enjoyed it, and remember that if you're ever contemplating starting on your own build but holding back because you're unsure how it'll turn out or worry you'll mess up, stop fretting. Don't hesitate any longer. You're in one of the best places you can be for support and knowledge right here at The Hunter's Lair. There's a wealth of resources right at your fingertips and a whole community of fans who treasure this 'ugly mother fuc***' just as much as you, that'll be by your side every step of the way along your own costuming journey! 🤙- 2 replies

I made a conscious choice after making my silicone P1 suit in 2010 to avoid working with stinky latex and predators if i could moving forward, since then i changed location globally and started working for myself so this is only the 2nd predator head i had sculpted in that time. i do not have many photos of the sculpt progress, but here is the latest version and i have a cool tweaked version i am finishing up this week, which i will post photos when i have it done.

Sculpted by yours truly way back 2003-2004. This helmet was a creation of the original Hunter's Lair and the original thread it lived in is gone. So I will tell the story of its creation here. We all know the Predator 2 Lost Hunter's ship scene. Well for me that is my favorite movie in the franchise and the Lost Hunter's have always been my obsession. In fact many of the original Lair members are responsible for naming them. Boar, Brother Boar, Gort, Ram, Borg, Elder, P1, Hippie Toys companies changed some of the names over the years. But ah well... My Bio Helmet Creation The sculpture came together well. I would get constant feedback from the o…

I was asked by rebox to make a small appearance at the extra butter location in NYC to help launch their predator inspired sneaker. Pics that follow are of me on my way to the location and arrival... Needless to say people flipped when I walked in.. the rebox executives and sneaker designers went through the roof.

After completing my first Boar bio. I wanted to revisit it. Make a second version, better and more accurate. The Sculpture Made is WED clay over an undersized P1 helmet if I remember correctly. The Mold Was a tricky one. I decided I would make a cavity pour mold. (I think that is the proper term) Whatever the case it is a multi step process. You protect the sculpt with plastic. Lay beds of clay over the sculpture. Making registration keys Then you make the mother mold over the clay bed. When you remove the mother mold and the clay bed there is an empty space between the Mother mold and clay sculpture. With a pour spout on the top you c…

It's been years, years that I've said "I need a build a suit, for either to wear or for display". Well I had the small opportunity that jumped out at me and took it. Now I think it's time for a good custom, some thing different. I'm unsure with the color scheme, I'm seeing elder colors or a mix of Lost Hunter (snake) kinda vibe. Man! it's great to post in this category, was always jelly with everyone's awesome builds.... The (Belt) will hold some vintage 1960s bags that Ive bought on eBay. Think they look like some thing the Hunter would carry. I will dress them up over time. Belt and bags eBay. (Skulls) I didn't paint these, but will be in the mix of stuff…

Greetings hunters! I am putting together another custom based off of the Samurai Predator concept drawings from Rob, back on the original lair. These drawings are still to this day, some of the best concepts and imagination to come to the hobby. I am attempting to create the alpha of the group...Izo. I have started gathering some parts with the help of a few of the old timers and vets of this group and the old Liar forum. This will be a slow but hopefully steady build with a completion date of June 2023. With age getting the best of me and the dedication and effort these suits take, this will build we probobly be my last. I always said if I built another, it would…

With the advent of 3d design i revisted one of my favorite quirky props, the rebreather from predator 2, which spends about 3 seconds on screen. the 1st 2 i made had issues ( mainly being my skillset ) so i always planned to revisit this. this time i did take liberties to hopefully make sure it would fit many mask shales and sizes.

I've been a massive kiss fan all my life... so I had the idea of what if a predator enjoyed the music while surfing the cosmos.. I worked out the design with my bro ICEMAN to visualize and paint up some kiss inspired bios... Ace Frehley fucking loved it!!!!

Inspiration for this came.from speaking with usurper with pieces he has done, so I decided to try myself. I used two different brushes for the powder and brushed it into the mold and literally poured the urethane resin on to it.. Let it set and detmold and hey presto the result.. Well the result is in the pictures. No paint has been used in the pics that's all pigment straight from the mold. I will be doing more like this with the avp elder mold I have as well

The P1 stunt bio. i painted this back in 2009 if the time stamp on the jpeg is correct, i really need to get another so i can get a more accurate paint up. this was simply done with rattle can silver paint, black, brown and green inks. i don't care how ropey it looks today i still love it 🙂
