Alright, here's my latest progress for tonight. I finished blocking in the blue areas with a midtone and finally painting the base color for the silver gauntlets. I also painted the hilt of the sword with a goldish color.

So this is my time line for the project overall:

10/15 - Block in blue midtone for suit and paint hilt of sword gold color.

10/16 - Finish the blue areas of the suit with shading and line segments. Add weathering to sword.

10/17 - Finish orange sections on the suit with shading and line segments.

10/18 - Break...

10/19 - Apply perma-wet to front of suit.

10/20 - Apply perma-wet to back of suit. Suit will be considered finished at this point.

10/21-10/25 - Paint and finish helmet and neck piece.

Just as a note- when I bought my lycra suit, it included a mask piece which I was going to take and probably cut out the front and paint blue so that my actual neck isn't showing when I'm wearing this costume.

Hey guys,

Got some more progress for you all. I finished the blue areas on the back of the suit and finished up my sword. For the suit, I pretty much followed the shading on the front in terms of having a light tone, middle tone, dark tone with those line segments I mentioned. The sword I admit was a lot of fun to do- I added some rusting and weathering across the whole thing and even a blood splatter near the end of the blade. Also, just for a bit of detail, I added a piece of brain tissue complete with a tuff of hair tongue.gif

i like the blood on the sword it adds a nice tuch

Some new stuff: I finished the orange areas on Friday with some shading:

And some shots of the unpainted mask which I have to finish and paint courtesy of Mannowar. It's an awesome mask, I just have to make it a bit wearable now. I'm going to have to remove some of the inner sections of the foam so I can breathe and possibly punch out a few holes. Also have to get a velcro strap for the back.

the helmet looks good now it just needs some paint bigthumb.gif

Sweet. Do you have an estimated time of when you will probably be able to wear the whole suit?

I was thinking of taking some shots of the whole costume this weekend. I just need to find a good location to do a little photo shoot with this suit on.

Anyways, I got started on my mask today and was able to get a solid base coat of silver on it. I also modified the inside of the mask to make it a bit more breathable. I did not have to punch any holes actually, just remove some of the inside foam to open a channel for breathing.

Tomorrow, I plan on adding shadows and highlights, plus the red bits on the mask such as painting the LED light in the center.
Polygon
Hey guys,

Just finished painting the mask tonight, here's what I got:

So I was going for something like Mannowar's original paint up, except that I made it a tad more worn and changed how the LED light in the center was painted.

Anyways, next step now is to get some perma-wet on the mask, and then start working on the neck piece!

Unfortunately, the zipper broke when I was on my way to the second Halloween party over the weekend. Otherwise, the suit held up very well, and everyone was impressed by the suit. Not many were able to pin point where the costume came from, but at least a few people did in the end. I think what I'm going to do is try applying some velcro straps on the back, maybe underneath the red areas you see there.

IT'S GRAY FOX!

Good job.

Yup. Awesome. Kinda wish you made the helmet and the gray parts of the suit brighter, though. They're a tad bit dark.
