Pdisc, all
Marriott next to the Convention Center is still showing no availability for 22, 23,24,25 July next year. Try the Courtyard by Marriotts, lady at Marriott reservations says they are showing availability. There are two of them that are 3 miles from the convention center. Also Ramada Inn; there's one in the Gaslamp district 8 blocks from the Con. --- Ei'luj -------------------- ![]() |

Usually the Con website has links to surrounding Hotels/Motels........but try the San Diego link as well.It has a directory of hotels and shows you how far they are to the convention. Any questions....feel free to ask. And YES.......the shuttle drops you off right in front of the convention center.

Wow! The only way I'd be able to go to that is if I will the Lotto! It's almost twice the price of Dragon*Con. Not to mention the time and added price of the flight to get out there. I guess I'll just have to stay on the east coast and represent.

I hunted around in the ComicCon website and found this link to Quikbook, it has a map that you can click on and see if the hotel has any openings. Thats how I found the Ramada Inn Gaslamp room with two beds http://www.quikbook.com/mappage.asp?city=1...amp;EICode=1579 --- Ei'luj -------------------- ![]() |

You can always try rooming with members from the lair, but if you have trouble looking just google stuff for San Diego...or ask me. With the sucky ass economy and tourism down, you may be in luck with dropping rates.....be on the lookout.

Dahdtoudi,
Here's what I found on the Amtrak, the train stop nearest the Convention center is San Diego SAN stop at 1050 Kettner Boulevard which is 8 blocks north. There is the Orange Line Light rail that leaves the America Plaza across the street from Amtrak, it runs every 15 minutes and it stops right across from the convention center. There is also the Red Line, runs from Amtrak to the Con, but there is a gap in the schedule from like 2 or 3pm till 6pm- a pretty large gap to take care of the evening rush- so it either doesn't go south or somehow there isn't a connection from Amtrak to Con during that time. (other details grabbed from the schedule, it may vary... gives you an idea of how long it takes from Toledo to San Diego.) 49 Lake Shore Limited Toledo, OH (TOL) 6:15 am 19-AUG-08 Chicago, IL - Union Station (CHI) 9:45 am 19-AUG-08 4h 30m Dining car, Lounge, Checked baggage Train sold out 3 Southwest Chief Chicago, IL - Union Station (CHI) 3:15 pm 19-AUG-08 Los Angeles, CA - Union Station (LAX) 8:15 am 21-AUG-08 43h 0m Dining car, Lounge, Checked baggage, Onboard wheelchair ramp Train sold out 768 Pacific Surfliner Los Angeles, CA - Union Station (LAX) 9:40 am 21-AUG-08 San Diego, CA (SAN) 12:25 pm 21-AUG-08 2h 45m Checked baggage, Snack car, Onboard wheelchair ramp 1 Unreserved Coach Seat --- Ei'luj -------------------- ![]() |

I talked with a person at the Marina Marriot and they havent released the dates and availability for SDCC 09 yet. Thats why it says 0 availability. Or, shes blowing smoke up my ass.

I got the same thing when I called them last week and the week before. Plus yesterday when I called Comic-con to bug them about sending my confirmation, (they finally did) I asked the lady when the rooms would be available for reservations and she said starting early February (!) But backup rooms in Gaslamp district are becoming available, like I said upthread try Ramada Inn Gaslamp and Westin Gaslamp Quarter --- Ei'luj -------------------- ![]() |

Definitely get a back up room if the Marriot Marina falls through. Im telling you guys, the Marriot Marina is worth the money. Nice hotel, nice rooms, right next to con, suiting up is easy, celebs all over the hotel, good food and bar, total package.
